“This Happened Here” Map | Our History, Your History @ Fayetteville St and Davie St

History has shaped Raleigh into the city it is, and Raleigh, in turn, continues to shape the lives of its citizens. All great moments in our lives happen somewhere, and often those places are influenced by a designer; an architect, a landscaper, an engineer or an urban planner. Stop by designSPARK Square to flag the important places that make up your personal history, tell us what makes them important, and help grow Raleigh’s intertwined network of collective histories.

This interactive exhibit is sponsored by the Young Architects Forum of the American Institute of Architects, Triangle and the College of Design, NCSU.

Artspace and NCMA Teen Program Selfie Project @ 10 East Hargett Street
Sep 13 @ 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
Artspace and NCMA Teen Program Selfie Project @ 10 East Hargett Street

A collaboration between Artspace and NCMA

We will create a light-hearted, portable stage setting with elaborate, ever-changing drawings where people may take their own selfies. We’ll encourage participants to upload the self-portraits to social media, tagging SPARKcon, Artspace, and NCMA. Participants are welcome to add the large, white, dry-erase board (like) surface of the stage set. At times, the setting will read as the collective assemblage of an “exquisite corpse,” or an ambitious person may begin it again with their own fresh idea. The dry-erase board will be set up on a sturdy frame so it won’t tip over or be knocked over by a big gust of wind.

Volunteers from the NCMA and Artspace’s life drawing classes will help encourage visitors to draw, provide them with simple drawing instruction, inspiration on what settings to draw, and also keep things clean and light-hearted.

Artspace and NCMA Teen Program Selfie Project @ 10 E. Hargett Street
