Leadership/Committees
Structure
A SPARK is best handled in a “starfish” model and should be structured with:
a. Planner person
b. Communicator person
c. Weekly open planning meetings
d. Tap existing networks whenever possible
e. Follows the “DNA” / norms / Best Practices of the rest of SPARKcon
Leadership
Leaders are chosen from WITHIN each SPARK. We need a minimum of two leaders: one to focus on the planning, and one to focus on the communication. The very best movements have had this minimum structure, and the required skills are very different – plus it keeps people from getting over their heads. After 3-4 meetings of the group, leadership will start to emerge from those that are getting things done.
Meetings
Public weekly meetings are a way to create rhythm and a “heartbeat” for your SPARK. Find a public place that is easy to come and go, fun enough to hang out in if attendance is low, and quiet enough to hear each other if attendance is high. It’s best to introduce yourself to the establishment and get their feedback if there are any specific requests they have on making it work efficiently for them. General Meetings will be held on the 3rd Monday of each month, 6:30 @ designbox. Try to attend these as often as possible, we will be holding training session and discuss broader SPARKcon topics that affect everyone! These meetings are also a great place for you to voice issues or questions your SPARK might have.
