Fundraising/Fundraising Events

Fundraising

All SPARKS will be responsible for raising money to cover their expenses. SPARKcon will help provide the funds for SHARED EVENT expenses -main stage, security, insurance, Web-site, permits, electricity, water, general SPARKcon promotion, staff and general printing.

SPARKcon does not allow raising funds for personal use or for any outside organizations. 10% of all money raised will be used for shared resources including marketing, event fees, security and insurance. All other funds raised by SPARKS can be used for their budget. We hope that you spend all you funds creating fabulous programming!

SPARKS should contact Sarah Powers with their fundraising plan and/or for support. Any fundraising that requires grant writing must go through VAE staff.

Fundraising Events

If your SPARK would like to hold a fundraising event, please contact the bobbleheads for approval and assistance prior to the event. Please follow SPARK branding guidelines for your event. VAE staff will provide you with more information and procedures about how to best handle donations and handling cash. More questions – contact Sarah Powers: sarah@visualartexchange.org or 919.828.7834. ALL fundraising events will require a SPARKevent Reconcilliation Form.

Sponsorships

When a sponsor is secured, each SPARK has to provide contact, gift and benefit information to Sarah Powers. To do this, PLEASE use the Sponsorship form! This will ensure your sponsors are listed and acknowledged correctly. In-kinds donations are welcome and should be treated like a cash donation -including paperwork to track the sponsorship. In-kind gifts are valued at 100% of their market value.Volunteer organizers should not list their committee work as an in-kind donation, that is a separate category of awesomeness and we thank you! Donations of venues are also a separate category, as they get additional exposure benefits from your event.

Sponsorship Benefits

The SPARKcon general fund will honor all general sponsorship benefit for donors.  SPARKs are encouraged to offer additional benefits for their sponsors and will be responsible for covering the cost of those benefits. When evaluating sponsorship levels for in-kind donations, keep in mind that they are not cash and you may not have the budget to fulfill additional SPARK specific benefit promises. If you have questions please contact your bobblehead or VAE staff.
