We will keep the second stage on Hargett Street I mind for opportunities to program readings.

General Organizer’s Meeting Tonight 6.21.10!

Just a reminder that tonight is the next General Organizer’s Meeting tonight Monday, June 21, 2010 at 6:30 at Designbox (323 W Martin Street, Downtown Raleigh). See you all tonight!

poetrySPARK meeting, June 16th

Cal shared a draft copy of the anthology. There is an updated version with some edits on the he way for final proofing.

Cal will check with Quail Ridge Books, Flywheel books, Borders and several other area stores about carrying the book (in addition to its availably on Lulu and Amazon.

Walden will confirm with AJ and Jonathan at Lulu regarding our sponsorship. They both indicated they are enthusiastic about supporting poetrySPARK and possibly SPARKcon again this year, possibly at a higher level.

Walden is meeting with Betty next week about AfterDark. He is still working on confirming a location for AfterDark,  In addition to the Berkeley, White Collar Crime is a possible venue.

Walden reconfirmed with Isaac Hunters Tavern.

Cal confirmed Morning Times.

Cal asked if Vybee screens will be placed around the SPARKcon area over the event weekend. This has not been confirmed.

The call for talent looks good and we have already received 10 submissions. We will work for the next several weeks to ensure it is well publicized.

We also discussed the possibility of making a poetrySPARK  t-shirt to sell.

Walden has a contact (Brad) that may be able to donate a stage for Isaac Hunters Tavern.

As soon as the stageSPARK call is official, we will request stage time for the Poetry Slam.

Drew Becker of Convey Media Group attended. He is interested in connecting his group: Inside 919 to poetry SPARK. He offered to publicize the call for talent to his community and also to possibly videotape the slam for us.

Denada mentioned having poets read at the local Growers market. A September date, close to the festival is preferred.

Details are still being finalized for poetry workshops. The Haiku Twitter idea was discussed. We also discussed having a kiosk somewhere on the site to sell anthologies and other poetry relate materials.

We would love to approach Lulu about donating 250 copies of the 2010 Anthology as their sponsorship if Walden thinks this makes sense.

We will also work with Lulu on the launch of the 2009 Anthology–will talk with Walden about what is possible

Miscellaneous

Cal will contact NC Poetry Society.
